It's not JUST a piece of cheese

Tonight Hannah took all but 1/2 an ounce of her nighttime bottle. Then she turned to me and said "Eat, eat." I thought she said "Teeth" because she always asks to brush her teeth after her bottle. But she shook her head "no" and said "eat" again. That has never, ever, EVER happened. Ever. Usually it's a struggle to get her to finish her bottle. Her whole life has been a struggle to get her to eat anything.

So we went into the kitchen where she ate two (small) slices of cheese, finished the rest of her bottle, then asked to brush her teeth.

I am one very happy Momma.

And yes, I did take a picture of it.

Guess Who's Feeling Better?

Hannah Banana Pumpkin Pie!
Playing with their favorite toy! This keeps them occupied long enough for me to cook dinner.

Comparing shmatas.

I also took them to the park today by myself. This is HUGE. They were pretty good about staying close to me and to each other. It helps that they are able to go down the little slides by themselves. We had the best time and they are taking a long nap! I think this is going to be a fun summer!

Hannah Update

Hannah has been doing great post surgery (knock on wood). She's been an absolute dream. The day after surgery she drank a lot of juice and slushies. She even had some scrambled eggs and pancakes for breakfast the day after the surgery. Today she had sausage and pancakes. She's been eating really well overall. She's also back to her silly, energetic self and it's been wonderful to see.

The only downside is that we've created a Yo Gabba Gabba monster. We let her watch it almost non-stop while she was recovering. We have 12 episodes on our DVR and a DVD and we have them all memorized. Not just the songs but entire episodes word for word. We sneak in some Elmo every once in a while when we don't think we can take it anymore. But it's Yo Gabba Gabba that she really loves. Now we are cutting back on the television and it hasn't been pretty. The little Miss Bossy Boss has been shouting "Yo! Yo!" all the time and getting very upset when we don't oblige her.

And the pictures

Checking in at the hospital. Mom Mom gave her a little puppy that looked just like Jake. She brought him with her into the OR.
Showing Daddy her new "bracelet".
Putting on her socks like a big girl.
Giving Pop Pop a hug and a kiss before surgery. That little hospital gown breaks my heart.
Getting a hug from Daddy.
Giving Mommy a kiss to make her feel better.
Snuggling with Mommy after the surgery.
More Yo Gabba Gabba please!
Pooped.
Who's the movie star? Sophie visits Hannah.
Getting a hug from Mom Mom. Notice she can't take her eyes off the TV (Yo Gabba Gabba).

Feeling much better the next day.
But ready to break out of the joint.
Going home! Hooray!

Peaches and Cream

Sophie and Hannah had a busy day today. First stop was the dentist. Hannah has some white spots on her teeth and since I was already scheduled for an appointment, Dr. Mike said to go ahead and bring her in as well. We brought both girls in and they got to sit in the dentist chair (on my lap) and see all kinds of cool stuff. They also got new toothbrushes! Both were very shy. After a lot of coaxing they finally gave us a look at their teeth. I give all the credit to Dr. Mike. He was very good with them. Sophie didn't get scared at all even though she is going through her stranger issues.

Next on our list was a visit with the pediatrician for Sophie and Hannah's 15 month check up. They were a little tired at this point and not having any of it. Hannah screamed the entire time the nurse was taking her blood pressure so I can only imagine what kind of reading she got. And no one wanted their head measured even though I told them the tape measure was a "hat". Oh and I let Sophie play with a ziploc bag of cheerios which she ripped open and threw all the cheerios to the ground.

The big concern of course was Hannah's weight. Craig and I were both anxious to find out what she weighed and what the doctor had to say about it. I had a feeling it wasn't going to be good news and it wasn't. The doctor told us to keep her on formula (the high calorie mix) and we have to bring her back for a weight check in 6 weeks. He wants to see a 2 pound weight gain by the next checkup. Right now I am giving her all kinds of high calorie food with butter and cream, but we need to try to give her more. So it will be a 6 week mission to get Hannah to gain weight. Interesting enough I am on a 6 week mission to lose weight (for a cruise).

But what really surprised us at the appointment was that Sophie dropped on the growth chart. That's right. The daughter that eats with two hands and gobbles up everything I put in front of her is not gaining enough weight. So I've been told to give her instant breakfast powder with her milk and all the butter and cream she wants as well. I've kind of been doing that already but I will just have to give her more.

Other than that the girls are well. We all got our flu shots. The girls got their vaccines and we called it a day.

Oh and I almost forgot...peaches and cream. For dinner Hannah and Sophie had macaroni and cheese with butter and cream, carrots with butter, and peaches with butter and heavy cream. And I wasn't allowed to have any:( Off to make a salad!

Tummy Time!

I have been trying to get Hannah to spend more than 5 seconds on her tummy since practically the day she was born. She cries, she screams, she flips right over and screams some more. I guess she just had to do it on her own terms. Now she is all over the place. When I change her diaper she: tries to roll on her stomach, rolls over to chew on the changing pad, grabs the blinds, or kicks the lotion by her feet. It's quite an ordeal!
First a picture of Sophie because she is just so darn cute. Now Hannah: Getting started...Almost there...Why are you looking at me like that?!

Hannah used to be my little drama queen but she smiles all the time now. Everything is funny and gets a big laugh. It's so darn cute.

A Day in the Life

I thought I would document my daily routine:
The day started off at 6am.

Sophie and Hannah woke up at the same time and needed to be fed. I gave Hannah a toy to play with while I fed Sophie and then switched. It was way too early to attempt a double feeding. And too early (and dark) to take pictures.
Then it's play time in the crib. I let them "talk" to each other for a while before I started tummy time.

They love to play together in the morning

Tummy time for Sophie Trying to make her escape?Hannah won't stay on her tummy long enough to get a picture. She rolls right over. In fact she starts rolling over before I even set her down. The alternative? Airplane rides on my kneesThis obviously doesn't go over too well.

And...it's nap time at 8am.
You would think that means a little mommy time but:

It's time to turn this:

Into this:

Can you tell from the middle picture that the part at the bottom is damaged? Can you say reprieve? Off to write an email to CSN Baby to get replacement parts sent. And eat a little breakfast: Uh Oh, Sophie is awake at 9:15am.

Hannah is still asleep so Sophie gets some one on one mommy time. We hang out in front of the mirror and I say "Who's that baby?! It's Sophie!" I've been doing this with her since I can remember and she still loves it.

And now Hannah is awake. For the next hour or so we did:

Some of this:Hannah loves playing with Sophie. She coos and giggles and watches her every move. Sophie...well, Sophie looks around the room, looks at me, looks at the TV and occasionally looks over at Hannah. We also did a little bit of this:Some of this:And a lot of this:

We also: Had more tummy time (mostly Sophie), Blew raspberries on our tummies, Had 2 outfit changes (3 if you include Mommy).

Nap time again at 11:30am.

Only I just now realize as I'm changing Sophie's outfit that the sleepers I bought the other day at Babies R Us are the wrong size. And she's busting out of the ones I have now. So instead of taking a shower (and I really, really want a shower!) while they nap, I'm off to Babies R Us to return the outfits and find some in her size.

Unfortunately the comfy Gerber sleepers I really like only go up to a size 9 and those are too small for Sophie (go figure). The only other sleepers they had either were made of flimsy, scratchy material or had decorative buttons on them. Why, why, why would a clothing company put buttons on a sleeper? Can you say choking hazard? So the trip out to Babies R Us was a bust...not that I left empty handed or anything. And the girls got a lot of attention. We even met a mother of 20 year old triplets who thought the girls were just adorable of course.

We get home at 1:30pm. Time for the girls to eat!

Sophie's asleep at 2:30pm.

Hannah is playing on the activity mat and she's about to get one on one time with Mommy just as soon as I finish my lunch.

Play time with Mommy includes walking around the house and touching different things like napkins (soft!), a paper bag (crinkly!), and the bumpy wall. All very fascinating in Hannah's world. Then we played with Mommy's nose and finally my necklace. And Hannah blew raspberries on my arm. Uh oh, she's rubbing her eyes.

And it's nap time for Hannah at 3:00pm.

Guess who's finally getting her shower! I would normally start getting dinner ready during their 3:00pm nap but we are having leftovers tonight and I really, really need a shower.

I make my way upstairs and...Sophie wakes up. After unsuccessfully trying to coax her back to sleep with a binky I decide to take her into the bathroom with me while I take a shower because I can tell she is not going to go back to sleep and I'm worried she'll wake up Hannah. Hannah wakes up anyway. And she's not happy.

By now I'm committed to that shower so I bring Sophie with me, give her a toy and take a shower while she plays in her bouncy seat. And hope that Hannah falls back asleep. Which she does. Sort of. As soon as I get out of the shower she wakes up and starts crying again (she has an amazing sixth sense about this). This is so not a good day for naps. I bring her into the bathroom and she sits in her bouncy seat next to Sophie as I dry my hair. Sophie is happy as a clam. Hannah just barely tolerates it.

It's time to eat again at 5:00pm. I go downstairs and start warming up bottles, bring the girls downstairs and feed them both at the same time.

We do a little playtime and then I go up and do dishes and make formula until 6:00pm.

A little more playtime during the 6:00 news.Check out those bunny feet!

Daddy's home at 6:15pm! Yay!

Sophie tells Daddy about her day.

After smiling and laughing with Daddy, Hannah remembers that she's crabby and tired. And so Craig takes her upstairs to bed at 6:30pm. I can still hear her crying and it's 6:40pm. I'm actually going to take this moment to blog.

Home Sweet Home

Did I mention that we finally moved into our new home? Hannah and Sophie had to leave their swanky nursery at Mom Mom's and Pop Pop's for a plain room with a pair of cheap $99 IKEA cribs (no decorations but we're working on it!) But we do have bunnies in the backyard! And great views of the foothills. Unpacking with the girls was definitely a challenge. It went something like this: Open a box, hold a crying baby, take contents out, change a diaper , unwrap contents, feed the other baby, and so on.

Hannah...the binky is no longer for soothing. She takes it out of her mouth and turns it around so she can gnaw on the edges. Is somebody teething?

Sophie on the Exersaucer

The first time I put her in it her eyes got huge. Then whenever she grabbed something that made a noise she would turn and look back at me like "Mom, did you hear that?! Did you know it made a noise?" Sophie doesn't know where to start. Cute. Her feet barely touch the bottom.

Hannah's Turn

What the heck is this thing?

Wait a minute...this looks interesting.I wouldn't mind getting my hands on this!Oh and that thing looks interesting too!Hey, thanks Mom!
