Chatty Cathys

Sophie and Hannah love to talk. They talk when they're playing.  They talk when they're getting their diaper changed.  They talk when they're getting ready for bed.  All the time. Hannah's favorite words are "deedle deedle deedle" or just "leedle leedle leedle".  Sophie is sticking with "la la la" or "na na na" but whatever she says, she makes sure it's loud.  It doesn't matter if Hannah is sleeping in the crib next to her.  It's almost as if Sophie wants her to wake up so she has someone to talk to.  The other day I took them for a walk and Sophie talked the ENTIRE time.  It was like she was telling me about everything she was seeing.

Sophie also likes to snuggle with Hannah.  The problem is Hannah doesn't like it.  And Sophie doesn't know her own strength. And Hannah hasn't figured out that she should crawl the other way when she sees Sophie coming.  So I spend a lot of my time pulling Sophie off Hannah, and saying "no" and "gentle"  It's sad because when Sophie bear hugs Hannah she has a big smile on her face.

This is one of their favorite spots.  We sit here sometimes and watch the bunnies in the front yard.

Toys

Well, it was supposed to be a toy box...

"Hmm, it's easier to reach the toys if I just tip this thing over."

It took Hannah less than 5 minutes to tip over the box, pull the toys out, maneuver it sideways then upright, tumble out and fold it up.

Sippy Cup Love

It seems like it has taken forever to get them to use their sippy cups.  They still haven't figured out that they need to tilt the cup but at least they're holding them upright and not banging them on their high chair trays.  I'm still working on getting them to hold their bottles.  Sophie will hold hers if I get her started but she's not a big fan.

It's not enough that they're cruising around the living room using the furniture and the walls, now they are trying to climb everything.

Sisterly Love

I have spent the entire morning pulling Sophie off Hannah and saying things like "Sophie, stop crawling on your sister!"  I pull Sophie off and immediately she's back at it.  All.  Morning. Long.  

But the good news is I scored some incredible toys off Craigslist:

They loved this toy too...until I brought out the house.

Sunny Sunday

We decided to take the girls to downtown Golden on Sunday.  It was a beautiful day and Golden has nice (wide) walking paths...perfect for a double wide stroller!

Toys and Hide Outs

Sophie and Hannah have a new favorite Snuggle toy.  This is the first time I've brought them out because, well...it's sort of like a blanket and I've been afraid of letting them near anything that resembles a blanket.  

I was surprised at how much the girls liked them.  They went crazy.  It was a snuggly free for all.  Lots of rolling, kicking, pulling...lauging.  Now their favorite thing to do is crawl over to the snugglies and collapse on them.  Hannah likes to roll around with hers.  Fortunately we have two so they don't have to share but of course that doesn't mean they don't fight over them...

Room To Play

Our family room just wasn't working as a play area.  Between the big screen TV perched on a not very high console and a granite coffee table that the girls love to climb, it was time for a change.  I decided to use our formal living room since we never use it ourselves.  The girls love  it.   They have a lot more space to crawl around.  And there are several windows that are just the right height for them.

It isn't pretty but it works for us.

This isn't the first time I've seen a fox (probably the same fox) in my backyard. I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't have two little babies to worry about.

Toys and Teething

Now that they are much better at standing, I decided to put the legs back on the music table. Of course that means they'd rather crawl under it...or chew on the legs:

They are both teething which is not fun for them...or me. Usually you don't know that Hannah is teething until one day a tooth pops out. But yesterday and today she's been clingy and cranky. So now I'm waiting and praying for that second top tooth to come in so she can feel better. She doesn't go for teethers so she has been crawling around with a washcloth or bib in her mouth. And because they are both teething, they have been "fighting" with each other. Someone has a toy and another someone wants that toy. The toy is taken. Tears. The toy is retrieved. More tears. And when I say tears I mean real tears. The kind of tears where you lay down on the carpet face first and cry.

Snaggletooth

I put them in summer outfits since it was so warm today. I thought that called for a quick photo session. I keep thinking that the older they get, the easier it will be to get a picture of them together. Nope. It just gets more difficult. This is the best I could come up with. Sophie is always aware of the camera. Hannah is just too impatient.

Our First Passover

Hannah and Sophie had their first Passover Seder! They got to wear their new dress outfits. And had a lot of fun playing with everyone, especially Great Grandma Beaute. Hannah got to try some of Mom Mom's famous Matzo Ball Soup. Sophie wasn't interested but she'd just had her bottle and wasn't as hungry. When I was pregnant one of the few things I craved was Sandy's Matzo Ball Soup. She brought some with her to San Francisco during a visit. It was all I ate for a week. I thought for sure that I would give birth to a couple of little matzo balls! So I look forward to it every Passover.
