You know you're a mom when you hear yourself say things like "Don't touch your pee. Pee pee is dirty." It never occurred to me that this is not a given. Hannah will finish with the potty, clap and show me that she peed by touching the pee in the potty.
I have also said "If you don't stop touching your poop, I won't let you sit on the potty." That's right, this is also something that has to be taught. And I find it fascinating that I need to bribe my daughter not to touch her poop by telling her she can sit on the potty if she stops. Because she loves to sit on the potty every chance she gets.
Both girls love the potty. But they each have their own way of doing things. Sophie takes forever. For
ever. Hannah is the opposite. She goes on the potty right away. Then she claps and says "Yay" and puts the contents into the toilet. She repeats this process 4 or 5 times until she's completely done. Oy.
Potty training is one of those things that's so much harder with twins. Because they don't just sit and go at the same time. One goes and while I help her, the other one gets up and moves around. I get the second one back on the potty and realize the first one is precariously tipping the potty (with contents) towards the toilet. I go help her and then the other one gets up and wanders around (without a diaper on). Sometimes she squats and I panic. I grab her and sit her back on the toilet with a book. Meanwhile the first one has used the potty again (because she can't do it all at once!) and is walking around with the freshly used potty. Or maybe putting her hands in the contents. Whatever.
And they both always have to have the door shut. But that's an entirely different post.
