Hannah seems to be having more trouble going to sleep than Sophie. Lately she's wanted to shut the closet door before she gets into bed and last night she didn't like the vent on the floor. I had to put her stuffed bear on top of it before she would go to sleep. Tonight she told me she didn't like the "castle". I couldn't figure out what she was talking about because I literally took everything out of her room (following the great poop catastrophe of 2011). I asked her to get up and show me what castle she was talking about and she walked over to a triangle shaped shadow on the floor. I gave her a long talk about shadows and what makes a shadow and why she shouldn't be afraid of them. I could tell she wasn't buying it, she was looking at me like she was just humoring me. Sure enough, she started crying for me as soon as I shut the door.
This time I brought up and episode of Yo Gabba Gabba about naps and how Muno and Toodie didn't want to go to sleep but they knew they needed the rest. Then I sang the "Happy Thoughts" song from show. We went over the things that make us happy. We talked about Muno, Toodie, firetrucks and lollipops. Muno in a firetruck was a particularly nice happy thought. I finally talked Hannah into getting back in bed and tucked her in. As as I was leaving I could hear her talking quietly to herself, "Mommy makes me happy. Daddy makes me happy. Sophie makes me happy. Muno makes me happy." Ah, I'm just glad I made the list:)
And here is one of the reasons I took the Pottery Barn chairs from their room. Actually the reason I took the chairs out of the room has to do with the great poop catastrophe of 2011 but we won't talk about that.
