The girls really like school. Throughout the day they would each come over and give me a hug, say I love you Mom Mom or tell me I am the best mom mom. I hated that…:) I was amazed at how confident each seems. And H played very independently from Sophie and with other kids. She would just do her thing, and the kids seemed to just gravitate to her. The teacher’s aid told me to stress table manners with the kids and that she always uses S & H as examples of good manners. Sophie is kind of in her own world. She seems to tune out the teacher, and I have to admit the teacher is not very animated or exciting.I saw her share her toy with a boy when he very nicely asked her if he could. I told the aid how affectionate they are, and she told me they had to talk with them about hugging because they hug the kids a lot and sometimes the kids complain that they hurt them. BTW, every once in a while Sophie and I would lock eyes and she would give me a thumbs up. What a riot! They are separating themselves by not having to sit next to each other in the circle or at lunch or during free play. I thought that was a good thing. Another funny thing that happened in the circle - some boy next to Sophie made a yucky cough and Sophie gave him a dirty look and got up and moved to the other side of the circle. Of course two boys got up and followed her to the other side of the circle. It was great to watch them interact with the kids. Everything was great until right before lunch when they were having free play. I helped a little boy put on a Cookie Monster costume, and about 10 minutes later I saw him crying and trying to get the costume off. I went over to help him, and then he vomited all over my jeans. Poor kid. The teachers had to evacuate the kids from the room while one had to clorox the rug. First time in all my teaching days that a kid vomited on me. Just lucky I guess.
