Hannah Loves

Hannah asked Sophie to tuck her in and then bring her some shirts. She's saying "more shirts".

Firetrucks. She is really into firetrucks. The Children's Museum has a real firetruck that the kids can climb on and "drive". If I mention the Children's Museum I hear "Fire. Truck!" "Hannah. Drive. Firetruck." All day long. She doesn't care about all trucks like Sophie but she does love firetrucks.

Blankets. She can't have less than 2 blankets in her crib at a time. When we tuck her in at night she says, "Two blankets Mommy. Two blankets." Sometimes three. And she has to have all of them on her even in the summer.

Shirts. She can't sleep without a shirt to snuggle with. I remember when we had first moved to Denver. I was driving back from the zoo with Hannah and Sophie. Hannah was crying and was obviously so tired. But she would not go to sleep. I finally realized that she was wearing short sleeves for the first time. She usually wears long sleeves to bed and chews on the end of her sleeve. I put one of her extra shirts in the car seat with her. She started chewing on it and went right to sleep. She takes a shirt to bed ever since.

Me! Yes, she is a Mommy's girl.

Independence. I get "Hannah do'd it" all the time. Can I put you in your highchair? "Hannah do'd it." Can I help you get dressed? "Hannah do'd it." Hannah do'd it.

Classic Baby. Hannah and Sophie love their Classic Baby.

Even though singing isn't on the list, I thought this video was too cute not to post:

Sophie Loves

Sophie Loves:

Trucks. Firetrucks or any other kind of big noisy truck. Trash day is very popular here. One day I walked outside so Sophie could get a good look at the garbage truck. She was a little scared but excited at the same time. One of the garbage men saw her watching and waved. Sophie immediately turned her face to my shoulder and we had to go back inside. But whenever we are out running errands I hear a lot of "Ohhhh, truck! Big truck!"

Doggie. Hannah can take or leave Doggie but Doggie is still Sophie's best friend. I realized this on the day I washed them both at the same time. Doggie is getting a bath is not an acceptable response when Sophie needs her Doggie.

Daddy. Daddy is also her best friend.

Nighttime diapers. She always asks for them. One day I decided to let her wear one during the day. She was so excited that she came down the stairs and lifted her dress above her head to show Bubby.

Dancing. This girl has got some moves and isn't afraid to use them!

Classic Baby. Sophie and Hannah are huge fans of this show. HUGE fans. Huge.

And the moment has passed...

Bubby asked Sophie if she thought I was pretty and Sophie said "No!" Hmmph!

Sophie My Love

Today Sophie and Hannah had their first music class at the JCC. It was a lot of fun and both girls did really well. While I was putting them down for their naps, we talked about everything we did that day. We talked about music class and I said "The teacher was very nice." Sophie said "Yes!" Then I said "And she had a nice voice." Sophie said "Yes!" I said "And she was very pretty." Sophie said "Mommy." I said "Mommy is pretty?" Sophie said "Yes." (Sigh)

The little love bug playing with her noodles.

Nap Interrupted

Today Sophie woke up early from her nap and shouting what I thought was "blanket". I raced up to her room to soothe her before she could wake up Hannah. Well, she wasn't shouting "blanket", she was shouting "naked". She must have looked up at some point during her nap, saw that Hannah was naked and she was not. Actually she was wearing just a shirt so I guess it was that she wasn't naked enough. I took off the shirt and she immediately grabbed her Doggie and went back to sleep.

If only it was that easy every time.

Speaking of naps:
Sophie was starting to fall asleep so I asked her if she was tired. She shouted "No!" And promptly fell asleep:)

Some mornings aren't bad at all...

Today we were all snuggling in bed before Craig had to go to work. Sophie decided on a whim to lean over and give Hannah a kiss. Then she kissed us. Next she leaned over and gave Hannah a hug. Hannah said "Nice. Hug." (Sigh)

The Cuteness Doesn't Stop

We had a BBQ to go to the other night. Unfortunately the girls weren't getting into it. They didn't want to get into the car and they complained most of the way there. We kept telling them "Hey! We're going to a barbeque!" Like it was the best thing in the world. Hannah piped up from the backseat "No barbe-cute. No barbe-cute!". Hee hee. Then we said "barbeque" a lot because we liked hearing her say "barbe-cute". She was still saying no to the barbeque so we told her "It will be fun!" She said "No fun. No fun Mommy." Hmm, I guess we are all about "no" right now:)

Who Cut the Cheese?

As if I don't already write enough posts about farting and burping...

A book caught my eye as I was leaving the library last week. It was called "Winchell Cuts the Cheese". It looked funny and I was curious so I grabbed it and checked it out along with "Olivia Joins the Circus". I wasn't sure I was even going to read it to Sophie and Hannah, let alone offer up the definition of "cutting the cheese".

Later that night Craig and I were getting ready to read the girls a bedtime story when Craig grabbed the book. Not only did he read it to them but he explained "cutting the cheese". Over and over.

The next morning Hannah farted. She turned to me and said "Hannah cut cheese."

Nice.

Story Time-A Love Hate Relationship

I have such a love/hate relationship with story time at my local library. On one hand, it's something for the girls to do and it's free. We get to listen to fun stories, sing nursery rhymes, and do simple crafts (now that Sophie and Hannah have moved up to the toddler group). But I also like that it teaches them how to sit still and be good listeners. Ha!

My first story time was a huge disaster. I took almost an entire year to for me to get up the nerve to give it another shot.

Sophie and Hannah always start off great. They sit and listen quietly. By the time the second book starts, someone (Hannah) starts getting ants in the pants. She stands up, looks over at me and tries to casually walk away. Casually walk away and...play with the (covered) outlet. Casually walk away and...stand on another mom's diaper bag. And so on. The thing is even when they're being good, I'm still a nervous wreck waiting for the inevitable. I know what's going to happen. It's just a matter of when. Actually Sophie is fine. She sits quietly up front and participates. The problem is when Hannah starts to act up, Sophie wants to join in. They egg each other on. It's a twin thing.

Today's disaster happened after story time. I was getting ready to check out some books when Hannah ran off, pressed the handicapped button on the door (she figured these out a long time ago) and tried to run outside. I ran after her and grabbed her arm just as she reached the door. As I was bringing her back inside, a woman ran over to me.

Our conversation went something like this:

Lady: You buzzed.
Me (as I was dragging Hannah back inside): What?!
Lady: You buzzed.

Me giving the lady a strange look and wondering if the handicapped button makes a buzzing noise.

Lady: You buzzed. Can I see your books?

Oh, apparently in my quest to keep my daughter from running outside and into the street, I had not stopped to check out all my library books. And even though the librarian wasn't rude, she wasn't super understanding. She was focused entirely on the books. No sympathetic "Oh, you've got your hands full." Or even a simple "Can I help?" Nothing. Not even when we got the books sorted out did she offer to simply hold the door open for me. So thank you Golden Library. Thank you.

And here is a cute moment that makes it all worth it.
Needless to say I will be back again next week.

Excuse Me Part II

Hannah is really into "excuse me" right now. As in "excuse me Mommy" (if I'm in her way), "excuse me Sophie" or my favorite "excuse me pillow". She also says "Bless you" if we sneeze. Sophie sneezed the other day and Hannah said "Bless you Sophie!" The best part is I know she picked this up from copying us. It makes me feel like maybe, just maybe, I am doing a good job.
