Embarrassing

It takes a lot to embarrass me. I've gone to a restaurant and also to Target in my slippers (accidentally of course). I've gone to the grocery store with my hair in a "ponytail" on the top of my hair. I look I usually reserve for home. With curly hair it looks more like I'm walking around with a shrub on the top of my head than an actual ponytail. I've also gone out with drool and snot marks all over my shoulder. And I can't count the number of times I've been shopping only to find that I have mascara caked under my eyes or worn my shirt inside out. Clearly I need to check the mirror more often.

But this is the first time where I was truly embarrassed. Sophie and Hannah have been sick for the past week. Normally I try to keep things orderly around here but they were being so fussy that Craig and I just sort of let them do whatever they wanted. By 4pm the playroom was a disaster and Craig and I (and Sophie and Hannah) were still in our pajamas! So wouldn't you know we get a knock on the door. Normally it's someone from a church and I don't answer it but when I peeked outside I saw a little girl with her mother. Of course she was selling Girl Scout cookies and I'm a big softie for that sort of thing. I told them I would love to buy some cookies. I get my purse and as I'm getting my money and Craig comes over to invite them in.

And this is what they see:
Aren't you loving the boxes stacked in the dining room with the tissue box on top?
I know you're thinking "Well, it's not that bad" but you're only seeing a portion of the mess. You can't see the piles of newspaper and dishes in the kitchen. Even Craig admitted that he was embarrassed by the mess. It really was bad.

Bad enough that I left them on the porch even though it was snowing. Craig looked at me like I was crazy and told them to please come inside.
Oh and the mom told us she hosts a book club/get together for the neighborhood women. Yup, my big chance for a social life and how much do you want to bet I never hear from her again!

And with that I'll leave you with a cute picture of Sophie "reading" to Daddy and Hannah.

Oh Lisa! I would have been embarrassed too. I know exactly how you feel here. But really, I bet that woman also has a messy house sometimes. I really hope you hear from her. A book club sounds wonderful!

Lol, it happens to the best of us.

But I need to know where you got that orange purse - love it!

I'm sorry but I didn't see the mess. Really, that's not clean? Now I'm embarrassed to invite you over to our house, dangit.
