'Tis The Season

It's football season already?!
Daddy and Sophie hanging out watching the Phillies game.
We don't have a Phillies onesie but we do have...

An Eagles onesie! Sophie looks thrilled doesn't she?

I would have put one on Hannah but unfortunately she was asleep. By the way, that's the exact same look mommy gets when she realizes that daddy is going to watch football all day.

Since I don't want leave Hannah out, here is a picture of them in their summer outfits:

Denver Style

One more week and We Will Be in Denver!
Princess Hannah's and Princess Sophie's home away from home at Mom Mom's and Pop Pop's house. This nursery is actually nicer than their current one...lucky girls!
The girls ride tricked out Denver style.
We're not going rock climbing just yet. The hills where I walk the girls are steep. I clip the carabiner to my waist just in case I loose my grip.
And the picture of the day:
Sophie half asleep with one hand gripping the bottle. She's just making sure we don't take it from her the moment she nods off!

Play Time

Here are the girls with their new favorite toy. I've had to up the intensity of their play time. Now I give them extra time play time together in the crib. I really feel bad some days that I can't give them my full attention. But I would never get any house work done otherwise. I'm only able to blog right now because they are both sleeping in their bouncy seats in ear shot of the sink so I'm afraid to do the dishes and wake them up. Oh the sacrifices :)

Lately I try to give them at least 10 minutes of good play time an hour whether it's reading our latest favorite book or putting them on the activity mat. Their new favorite toy is the old classic...plastic keys on a ring. Whoever thought this one up is a genius. They love it. Sophie does "the Frankenstein" and lurches for it with her hands. I call it the Frankenstein because she jerks her arm around with her hand in a crazy claw like position. She can usually swat it a few times and gets so excited when she does. She also likes how it tastes. She likes to "taste" everything these days. She used to eat my arm or chest, whatever is in reach when I hold her. Now they both like to suck on their hands or their shirts.

Hannah is all about her feet. She has amazing leg control. She not only can hit the keys practically every time but she can put her feet together to grab and hold onto them. I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise. She's always been very limber. I have an old ultrasound picture of her with her foot up by her head.
A captive audience.

Did I just call him a Doofus?

Craig and Hannah were having a good time laughing so I grabbed my still camera to get a quick video clip. Craig obviously thought I was trying to get a still picture. The result is hilarious.

Sophie Love BugI'm taking advantage of this unusually warm weather and putting the girls in all the summer dresses that they haven't been able to wear. Every time I put Sophie in a dress she grabs the skirt and pulls it up over her head. I had her in a cute dress at a dinner party last Sunday and I spent a lot of the evening pulling her dress back down. Yup, this one is going to be trouble;)

If you're happy and you know it...

Aside from Sophie's recent bug, the girls have been smiling a lot lately. Hannah is still working out the kinks. Sometimes she will smile when she is obviously not in a happy mood. She will smile for a moment, pause, figure out that she's not happy after all and start crying.

Hannah...Happy Girl!

We finally got a picture of her smiling!

All around town girls

We have had a busy week already and it's only Wednesday. On Sunday we went to a Red Egg and Ginger party. One of Craig's co-workers has a daughter who is a month older than Sophie and Hannah. She's the cutest. Everyone had a great time. Chinese food, cake, lots of cute babies...what's not to love?

Then on Monday I had plans to go to the mall with a friend. She had to go in to work at the last minute but I decided to go anyway. In a perfect world I would find a park to take them to but it's been so cold and foggy here lately. Plus it's so noisy at the mall that if one of them wakes up and cries it's not as noticeable. I finally met up with Linda at a different mall on Wednesday. So that's two trips to the mall in one week. All these trips to the mall can't be setting a good example:) I'm afraid that I'm going to create a couple of shopaholics!

The funny thing is I'm running into tons of twins whenever I go out. The lady at the makeup counter was a twin. In another store I met two teenage girls who are twins. Then at another store a woman approached me with her twin (also teenage) daughters.

The downside to all of this is I think Sophie picked up a bug somewhere. She hasn't been herself for the past two days. It was really bad yesterday. She cried most of the day and would only sleep if I held her. Poor thing. Craig had to come home a little early to give me a break. It was that bad

Bye Nana! We miss you already!

My mom left on Saturday. We already miss her. It was nice having my mom around. I don't get to see her that often. It's sad when family lives so far away. Hannah and Sophie had so much fun with their Nana. Seriously. The day after my mom left they were looking at me like "Well, why aren't you playing with us non-stop like that nice lady."

Moby Girls

Nothing new to report except that yesterday I practically had a nervous breakdown. Craig and I take turns feeding them at night. Craig stays up until 4am then I take over. Usually I can get an hour of sleep in between their early morning feedings. But yesterday both girls were gassy and I was constantly going back and forth between the two trying to sooth them (and hoping they wouldn't wake up Craig.) It ended up being like that all day. They were very cranky and not happy unless I was holding them. The few moments when they were calm I had to quickly prepare their bottles and wash the dirty ones. I didn't have time to shower or really eat. On the plus side I can now fit into my pre-pregnancy (but not pre-IVF) jeans. Anyway, I was ready to pass out by the time Craig came home.

Sophie loves her daddy:) Moments like this make it all worth it.
Hannah loves the Moby wrap.
I finally bought a Moby wrap. I'm so glad I did! Anything that allows me to carry around a baby (hands free) is worth it's weight in gold. I can't believe I waited so long to get one. Sophie loved it right away. Hannah didn't like being put into it but once she was in she immediately went to sleep. Heaven!

Better Than Ice Cream

It's official. Hannah likes Sarah McLachlan. Her favorites are Building a Mystery, Adia, and my personal favorite Ice Cream. I've been playing the CD when she get's upset and it seems to calms her. It's worked 4 out of 5 times and that's good enough for me. I have to sing along of course. She doesn't know just yet that mommy can't sing:)

She also decided to show an interest in the activity mat today. She was really into kicking the toy at her feet. Sophie for once was content just to watch Hannah.

Future soccer player?

More Fun with Nana

You can't take the photographer out of the girl.
We took a trip to Half Moon Bay which was a lot of fun for us because we don't get out much. I'm not sure how much fun it was for my mom and Dick. We had to keep stopping to feed them or make sure the sun was off their face, or take pictures, etc.

Lunch time!
We fed them at the bus stop, haha. That's not a cup of coffee next to me. It's hot water to warm their bottles. We didn't learn from our last trip out that we don't need to put ice packs in the thermal part of the diaper bag. It makes their bottles ice cold. Too cold to drink. Craig went to the bakery across the street to get hot water. In the meantime I'm alone on a busy sidewalk with two hungry, crying babies. I can only imagine what people were thinking. Before I had my babies I'm sure I would have thought "Eek, better her than me." But honestly it wasn't that big of a deal.

Soothing Sophie. Can you hear Hanna crying in the background? There was a lot of soothing going on :)

Nana's Here!

There's nothing better than having your mom around! It was a lot of fun seeing her with the babies. They love her. Hannah just snuggled with her all day. And Sophie was a show off as usual. We spent the entire day just hanging out with the girls. It's hard living so far away from my family. I don't get enough of these moments.

My new toy

I just discovered http://www.picnik.com./ It's a photo editing website that let's you do all different kinds of effects online. And the best part is it's free!

Cute picture of Craig and Sophie using the Holga effect. I've been wanting to get a Holga camera for a long time and now I don't have to!
Hannah with her bottle using the Lomo effect.
Of course this is all just another excuse to post more pictures of Sophie and Hannah:) They are only two months old and I already have over 500 pictures of them!

Sophie and Hannah

The girls are getting really cute. Lot's of smiles. Sophie even does a little laugh now. Hannah is a little more selective with her smiles but when she does smile it is precious. I can usually coax one out of her when I wash her face in the morning. She just loves that. She also loves the mobile now. Sophie on the other hand has been there, done that. She's moved on to the activity mat. I think it's a little too much for Hannah for now.
Sophie smiles

It's amazing to me just how different they are. I know that they are each their own person but I expected some similarities. They are sisters after all. They even like being held differently. Sophie loves being held upright against my chest (so she can look around!) She would be happy if I carted her around the house all day long showing her things. Sophie also likes to flirt with herself in the mirror. She thinks she's the hottest thing since sliced bread! And Hannah loves being cradled in my arms (so she can stare up at you.) She just wants lots of love. She's now talking back to me. We have the nicest conversations:) And she adores being read to.

The funny thing is when one cries the other seems completely oblivious. But at night when one grunts softly or makes a little cry in her sleep, the other one will do the exact same thing.

And they both like sleeping together. I had gotten away from doing that because I was afraid they'd wake each other up but the opposite is true. It actually comforts them, especially Sophie.

A Slice of Life

Sara from Twice as Nice gives a great example of what a day is like with twins. She also gave me my first blog award! What a sweetheart. She has two beautiful twins girls, Olivia and Abigail that are around the same age as Sophie and Hannah. And a darling son.

I'll have to post my answers when I'm not typing with one handed (and holding a baby in the other.) Thanks Sara! You made my day.

We are 2 months! (this time I mean it!)

The last post was just their 8 week anniversary but I wanted an excuse to take pictures of Hannah and Sophie in their dresses. Today we celebrated their 2 month milestone in true girl style...we went to the mall! This was only our second trip (not including trips to the pediatrician.) so we're not completely comfortable being out in public but it went really well. The girls love car rides and being pushed in the stroller.

The only time where we came close to a meltdown was when it came time for Hannah to eat. We were at the coffee shop when she started crying. Not a problem. I warmed up her bottle and fed her while Craig finished his coffee and read the paper. Then there was our first public restroom diaper change. She was getting cranky and crying so I panicked and Craig ended up doing it. Oh well. If you know Hannah you know why I panicked a little. She's not the easiest to console and when she gets worked up she's loud.

How dorky am I that I took a picture of the girls first trip to the mall. I could justify it as their two month pictures but you can't even see their faces!
The part about being in public that I'm still not used to (and maybe never will be) is people constantly pointing and commenting on "the twins".
